The things they have found out are true for Germany but what do we know about Youth Culture in the other European countries? Mmmm... this might be the subject of a new Comenius project...

Indie is alternative rock that exists in the independent underground music scene. In the United Kingdom, Indie music charts have been compiled since the early 1980´s. Some Indie rock bands in the 80´s were for example Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, The Pixies or R.E.M.

Typical instruments are guitar, bass, drums and synthesizers.

Gothics are people who wear only black and blood red clothes. They often want to look like a vampire or a dead person. Their face is made up white with black and red eyes and lips. Mostly their jackets are long dark coats. Often they wear clothes which look as if they were from the Middle Ages. Their nails are black, too. They are often pierced and look very dark and scary. For people who never speak with a gothic he/she looks like a bad person. Most of the people say, “Look there is a boy or a girl who prays to Satan.” But this isn’t true, they only look like that, but lots of them are religious. Their music is Gothic Rock (Nightwish, Evanescence) and Heavy Metal (Iron Maiden, Children of Boredom).

Players are normally male, (the female version is called “chicse”) who wear eye-catching jewellery, tight jeans, and tight t-shirts. They spend a lot of time and money styling their hair and they often have got a lip piercing. Their favourite music is R`n’B and Hip-Hop.
