The German students have hit again! A new interesting research about strange U.F.O.N.F.O. (Unidentified Flying Or Non Flying Objects) also called "objets trouvés" by our highly sophisticated German friends... ;-))

Objets trouvés

Travelling around in Scotland, Germany, Spain and Italy you’ll come across a lot of “objects” which show how much exchange there is between these nations:

Architecture

Hanging houses: Cuenca is famous for its ”casas colgadas” :

Let’s go to the Royal Mile in Edinburgh!

Is there a Scottish word for ‘casa colgada’?

... or a Scottish word for "reloj colgado"?

Famous People

The Fugger – Family were famous merchants and banker from Augsburg. In their hometown there is a street and a square which bear their name:

In Madrid you can also find a street with their name (in Spanish):

… and of course there is also a bar:

Gastronomy

Traditional bar in Madrid

This is the area where you’ll find most connections, but not all of them are as obvious as you may think.
Of course there are Italian restaurants everywhere in Europe, and in the Mediterranean seaside resorts you can finds lots of horrible “German” restaurants.

However, have a look at these:

The menu:

Spain is catching up rapidly in the field of gastronomy, which you can even find on the menu of a Bavarian restaurant in Augsburg:

And now we can include a lot of nations:

The following was found on a menu in a restaurant in Spain (Costa blanca). The customers of this place are mostly British and German. What was the Italian owner’s idea when he offered these dishes:

A typical Spanish woman crossing a typical Spanish road... or NOT?!

Last but not the least: is this the idea the Spanish have about old people? My grandparents are now at Dutch Antilles on their tenth honeymoon!!! ;-)
